Ramsey, New Jersey - Rockland Rowing had an opportunity to test their fitness mid-way through the winter season on Saturday at the Ironmen Erg Classic hosted by Don Bosco Prep. This year's race had 370 entrants from 19 clubs, and included adaptive events for the first time which gave the Rockland Rowing adaptive team an opportunity to make their racing debut. All Rockland programs produced solid results and nearly everyone on the team set personal bests over the 2,000 meter distance on the indoor rowing machines.
On the masters side, Scott Baird won gold in the men's senior event (6:57.1) and in the men's veteran event Ivan Rudolph-Shabinksy won silver (6:50.3) and Peter Klose, hot on his trail took bronze (6:52.1).
The masters will open their on-the-water racing season with an invitational regatta at Rockland Lake in early May.
