Ironmen Erg Classic 2017

Ramsey, New Jersey - The Rockland Rowing adult masters and adaptive team rowers had an opportunity to test their fitness mid-way through the winter season on Saturday at the Ironmen Erg Classic hosted by Don Bosco Prep. This year's race had 370 entrants from 19 clubs, and included adaptive events for the first time which gave the Rockland Rowing adaptive team an opportunity to make their racing debut.

Racing for 2,000 meters on the masters team Scott Baird won gold in the men's senior event (6:57.1); Ivan Rudolph-Shabinksy took silver (6:50.3) and Peter Klose captured bronze (6:52.1) in the men's veteran event; and Eileen McCabe won gold in the women's senior race (8:36.6).

On the adaptive side, Ron Gold and Caren Landis won gold in their respective events and Jack Davidson took silver covering a distance of 1,000 meters.

The masters will open their on-the-water racing season with an invitational regatta at Rockland Lake in early May.
