Compete as a Para Rower
We offer athletes with advanced skills the opportunity to compete in adaptive rowing races. RRA’s adaptive team has won medals at major regattas, including Youth Nationals, the Head of the Charles, Head of the Schuylkill, Bayada Regatta, RRA’s Masters Regatta (sprint racing), and Head of the Passaic. One former team member is currently in the Paralympic pathway at college.
Adaptive Team Outings
Join a welcoming community for weekly rowing adventures on Rockland Lake. For those who can sit unsupported, our 8-seat rowing barge is the perfect place to start. These outings offer safe, supportive, and fun experiences for autistic youth and physically impaired youth and adults. Non-swimmers wear lifejackets. Caregivers and drivers who assist during sessions are welcome to jump into the boat & receive free learn-to-row coaching as a thank you.
Private Lessons
Benefit from one-on-one coaching tailored to your needs in two-person boats with pontoons (a double uses two rowers, one whom is an experienced volunteer). We offer sliding seat rowing for athletes who can use their legs, and fixed seat rowing for SCI and amputee athletes who need extra support with lap and chest straps. Working with our youth team volunteers and coaching staff, you’ll build skills and confidence in a positive environment.
