Staff

Rockland Rowing's coaching staff is led by our Director of Rowing, Melissa Boyd. Our coaches are critical to our success and to the safety of our rowers. All coaches are experienced rowers, many with years of coaching experience. We provide our coaches regular training in first aid and general safety and offer continued coaching education opportunities to keep them growing as instructors in the sport of rowing.

melissa Boyd, Director of Rowing and head girl's coach

Melissa joined the RRA in June 2015 after working as the Assistant Director of Rowing at Pelham Community Rowing Association. Melissa brings extensive rowing and coaching experience to her role. She was captain of the University of Oregon's women's crew, and rowed several for years post-college with NYAC and Vesper - winning in both sweep and sculling events at USRowing Nationals and Canadian Henley. Melissa has coached juniors teams that have qualified for USRowing's Youth National Championships and have won many regional regattas.

She learned how to row as an adult and has rowed competitively with Piermont Rowing Club and Rockland Rowing.

Kathy Rudolph-Shabinsky, business manager

Kathy volunteers her time to manage the books at RRA. Not a rower herself, she is married to a masters rower and one of her children rowed for the RRA and is now rowing at Cornell University. One day she might be convinced to row, in the meantime, she crushes the erg every year at our Pull-With-Purpose row-a-thon.
