duny rowing: changing lives through sport
Most rowers at Dominican University are first generation in their family to attend college. The combination of a university degree and the networking they develop through rowing can have a meaningful impact on their lives. Started in 2021, both our men’s and women’s teams compete as varsity programs, with the women being a D2 NCAA team. Still a young team and just beginning to grow in numbers, we’ve already seen significant success with numerous medals at Knecht Cup, New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships, and the Dad Vail Regatta. Our focus on sculling along with sweep has helped us lead the way in collegiate sculling - with our men taking second place in the team trophy at the National Collegiate Sculling Championships at the Dad Vail Regatta in 2025, where our women also placed 5th in the women’s varsity double. We are also leading the effort to bring para rowing to the collegiate level. Our PR3 rower won the PR3 single at Dad Vail in 2025 as well.
