Free Introduction to Rowing

Curious about the Rockland Rowing Association? We welcome you to join us for a complimentary introduction to rowing! You'll learn the basic rowing stroke, meet our coaches and active rowers, learn the benefits of rowing and find out more about our programming.

Participants who sign up for a 75' class in advance will have the opportunity to row on the water with oars in a stable, floating barge or rowing shell. Drop-ins welcome, but will not be guaranteed an opportunity to row, so be sure to pre-register at least 24 hours in advance if you want to reserve a seat in a boat!

Each class is capped at eight participants and it's first come first served. After registering you will receive an email confirming your time slot and event day details. Classes take place at Rockland Lake State Park, lot #6.

This activity is for those ages 10 and up and is led by our friendly coaching staff and current rowers. All fitness levels welcome. No experience needed. This rowing opportunity is FREE, exclusive of Rockland Lake State Park's $8 cash toll on weekends after 8am.

Please note, this free introduction to rowing is not a pre-requisite for joining our programming. However, all programs require successful completion of Learn-to-Row (LTR), a multi-day course or the equivalent in private lessons. There is no pre-requisite for LTR.
